Here’s what people are saying about the Book!

“Be Your Own No.1 Cheerleader is a well thought out book that looks to help and encourage you back onto the wagon of life, a key book for any womxn with an entrepreneurial spirit. What I enjoyed about this book was how the author was personal, shared her own life experiences and reflections whilst asking the reader to consider and write their responses. It was less of the dreary lecture, and more of a welcomed conversation with a friend over a cup of tea or coffee. The book helped me to reframe my life, look at a past littered with its mistakes and process it into lessons to improve my life. As a South Asian womxn, it is honestly refreshing to interact with a book that is approachable, warm and friendly to read. Thank you Ekua, for introducing me to my own No.1 Cheerleader. “

“Reading ‘Be your No1 Cheerleader’ has taken me along the journey of an entrepreneur.  As an on looker and not an entrepreneur myself, the honesty and openness from the author has opened my eyes to the challenges and opportunities which are available on that journey.  The author takes you through the process overlying each step with her own experiences of unsuccessful personal attempts at running her businesses, by doing this it is clear that the contents are ‘real’.  The book is loaded with tips and techniques for the reader to transition challenges to successes.  It’s format encourages active reading, the author invites journaling and features it heavily throughout the book, encouraging the reader to ask questions of themselves and reflect on the chapter’s topic.  Ideally these notes can be referred back to as the entrepreneurial journey progresses.  I love the unique use of song lyrics used to explain or emphasise a point, I often found myself bursting into song.  These techniques really help to make the motivational and inspirational content of the book become a way of life and women will benefit from learning how to ‘Be your No1 Cheerleader’’.

A recommended encouraging read for any women whether on the entrepreneurial journey or not.”

“Highly engaging, comprehensive,  enlightening,  a book of great wisdom,  tremendously practical also.

I loved each second, minute and hour of reading it. It made me so excited I have already recommended it to my close family and friends. It's a kind of a book that you want to keep close as a close reference friend.”

“I loved reading this book! I’m just a year into my start up journey, and I am constantly having new business ideas, which can sometimes be a bit overwhelming with the amount of things I want to do. This book confirmed that ideation isn’t a bad thing, and works through a process to sense check your ideas before getting ahead of yourself or reaching burn out. When I was reading it, it was like having Ekua right alongside me and prompting me to ask the right questions to make sure I was staying on track to my vision for my business (and also my personal vision, I guess). It’s written in bite-sized chunks with actionable ideas that can easily be applied to any business. In fact, each section also includes space for reflection, with questions to help guide your thoughts, making observations about your own behaviours and where you can improve.

I think the fact that Ekua also includes anecdotes from her own experiences really allows you to draw parallels with your own, and also confirms that she’s been through it all before (multiple times!) to be able to guide you too. I particularly enjoyed the sections about mindset, whether it’s being grateful, allowing time for self care or shrinking imposter syndrome - they are all topics that we need to keep coming back to and reminding ourselves of as entrepreneurs. It’s definitely a book that you can use as a reference and dip in and out of when you need a refresher or time for reflection in the early years of your business journey.”

“I absolutely loved this book! It allowed me to change my idea on how I view business strategy. In this book I learn't that, contrary to popular belief, it is OK to share your idea with other people as you may be able to find people to support you on your journey. It will also enable you to get feedback on your dreams. Also, as someone who is a self confessed perfectionist - I learn't that it is ok to "trash your idea" and stat again, it is OK to test out your projects and if it doesn’t work, re-stratergise.  Furthermore, as a perfectionist – it reminded me that it is ok to fail at times, I used to be someone who absolutely hated failure, and after reading this book I now know it was as a result of the “fixed mindset” that I had, and I am now going to try and adopt a “growth mindset”. I loved how interactive the book was, for example - on page 17, they asked us a question "as this chapter draws to a close, I'd like you to consider what is your biggest takeaway? Write your answers here" and I was able to pour out my feelings, meditate and reflect.”
